Craft Action! 146+ Triangle Factory Fire Centennial
Photos of the 146+ craft action start with the first workshop at the Dark Matter book celebration at Parsons back on February 10th. Liz Collin's made multiples on my knitting machine and there is a lot of volunteers that participated and made bands that night. Over 100 people from 53 cities in the USA and Canada signed up and 2/3rds of them came in by the deadline. Thanks to all who helped! It was a tremendous effort to make up for all 146 by the day of but we DO have an image of most of the bands to follow with the names of participants.
We will be sending the several armbands that were returned after the action or submitted late to a worker center in Bangladesh to use for organizing in solidarity for labor rights. As you know they have had recent victims in factory fires making garments for H&M, JCPenny and WalMart.
Thanks to Jen G., Linda C. and Kimberly S. and friends who showed up for the craft action on the centennial of the Triangle fire and distributed bands to volunteers with me, Jim and our 5 month old baby Franz. Armbands were worn by NYC middle school students, journalists, firemen, college student organizers from Bangladesh, people from the Jewish Labor Committee, OSHA, the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health, the International Labor Rights Forum, Workers Defense League, Workers United and many other groups and individuals including our Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis (she wore #118 made by Sarah S. from Bangor, Maine).
I hope to send participants who crafted bands something special from the event, but it may take me until summer to get it to you.

Happy Spring Forward
The mail for the 146+ project is starting to roll in. I know there are many of you interested to know if your armband has arrived. I will be updating the data through the 22nd as they come in.
